Active.com has posted my newest article, Can You Call Yourself an Athlete?
Check it out, comment, share it on all the various medias, spread the Dirtbag love. Thanks for reading!
*Kepa- Something you posted a while ago kind of inspired this one.
Excellent article Doug! I can't wait for your first book!!!
Yeah, I am guilty of this. Your article makes a lot of sense and, yes, we all train and run the same course, so in theory, we should be able to use the same title. However, I have a difficult time wrapping my head around being a "real" triathlete. I don't see myself in the same league as you folks. The best I have ever been able to label myself is a recreational athlete... but, never a runner, cyclist or swimmer - much less a triathlete. At any rate, I do enjoy the training and I have fun at the events.
"You folks" makes me nervous. I've been doing the tri thing for only 18 months or so. I've been a swimmer forever, but I am still learning that I can run and my cycling is pretty damned new. Anyway, you're as much a triathlete as we all are. If I didn't believe that I'd never be able to go out and follow Sean up Pineapple every weekend. Glad you enjoyed the article. I can't wait for my first book either!
I am friends with one of the editors on Facebook. If you search for Vanessa Rodriguez on the active site, she's the running and nutrition editor. She hooks me up.

"When a girl would run by and I’d notice her shoes before anything else"...guess you won't be sleeping on the couch tonight. Lol.
ReplyDeleteOnly if she doesn't notice the "before anything else" part.
DeleteHow did submit the article? Not that I'd ever *actually* write one, I'm all good ideas and no action. But still curious...do you just send it to them?
